and as to the discussion of spear throwing...I have found that the spear line is not very good with spike damage...but rather with applying constant pressure... IAS is your friend.... for pvp try this build...
[card]heket's rampage[/card] [card]poisonous bite[/card] [card]barbed spear[/card] [card]blazing spear[/card] [card]disrupting throw[/card] [card]heal as one[/card] [card]charm animal[/card] [card]resurrection signet[/card]
I have been having a blast with the paragon...helping people who recently join my guild in pve and the above builds in pvp...

I'm glad to see that someone else is realizing the very nice synergies between the Ranger and the Paragon as well...I absolutely love the combo at this point.

Wow.. ignorant quote of the year?
The OP was looking for interesting builds to play. I agree Paragons are "meant" for party wide buffs using shouts and echos. In fact i honestly enjoy playing those builds too. However for sheer laughs and fun ToF Axe Users takes the cake. I also tested a P/R build, amazing as well. The OP wanted interesting builds, not cookie cutter 100% paragon builds. If we all listened to you there would be no ranger-thumpers, 55 tanks, IW Mesmers, Critical barragers, etc. Boring game?
Now that, that is over. Paragons leave room for creativity, as do dervishes. So far They are on Fire has been the most used skill from a paragon. However I've also heard that an Orders Paragon is quite fun to play (P/N)
I agree that Paragons could use a buff though.

Well, a buff is always welcome! Bring it on! I love my paragon, and a couple friends are now playing para heavily and one leveling up a para after seeing what I can do in Sorrow's Furnace. But I will say this in defense of those of you who don't like the Paragon.
1. I myself really do not like the armor at all. I try not to look at me! I think a lot of players choose Dervish over Para just because of the armor?
2. For me, getting the Paragon off the island was very tedious. The good stuff really did not turn on until I got adrenaline building elites like Soldier's Fury and Focused Anger which come much later.
3. I think the real strengths of the class are hard to discover on your own, and with a fully leveled para you do need to study builds and read a lot on the forums to find one which fits your playstyle.
4. The Truth Comes Out: Ok, yeah, my build works best with Olias (MM) along and I basically just spam Go For the Eyes like crazy, with the rest of the build centered around that. Typically I rock around the lower maps of Elona, all the maps of Factions and Tyria with just the para, Koss (slinging an axe), Dunkoro to keep us all alive, and Olias with a great MM build really carrying the load. GFtE just makes Olias 10 times more effective.
5. ClawofCrimson, that is a really good PvP build, best I have seen. Am going to try that.
6. I agree that Spear needs some help from ANet. By the time you get points in Leadership, Command (and/or Motivation), Spear is even weaker yet. Spear side effects like Deep Wound, or as in the build above, far outweigh any actual damage done by the spear.

I made one, did the first mission and deleted her.
I may remake along the way but that first part in nightfall is just boring as hell I don't know how many characters I can stand going through it with ><

Three dissapointments:
- Got overexcited over paragons because i thought their armor had "wings" and "wing blades" but instead they gave us cheap Nipple-showing 15k armors
- I thought there was going to be two options for paragons... Ranged melee and Close up melee. Sigh. I just dont wanna throw my spear, i want to stab people with my spear too.
- People only wants support type paragons with Fall back and Incoming Stand you're ground etc, but yet people are trying too hard to make up builds containing massive dmg Paragons.
The assassin is SLOWLY... slowllyyy getting in the top spot. Question will be, Will the paragons climb that top spot too or remains as a support paragon that throw spears which spawns on you're hand back everytime you throw it? Lol.

Vabbian male armour doesn't have the man-titties problem, and it has nice wings - on the feet too like Hermes.

I don't know why people are saying paragons have no good armor, I like to think my paragon has a very nice looking set.
And I'm glad they don't have full wings, that'd be extremely lame.
As I said, Paragon is my favorite class in the game atm and I've given all 10 classes a shot. The beef a lot of people seem to have is the lack of "Omfg pwn'd j00 wif my Speer" damage. I will admit it seems odd to have so many attack skills with relatively week attack power, but I myself started playing the paragon in full understanding that was building a support class. currently I'm running a Command para with no points in spear mastery at all; as long as I can hit my targets I will gain adrenaline and that's all I need really.

With the Pargon Toff Build, Zed and a MM heroe, your'e talking probably some of the best damage as a team you can dish out in pve.
Period
Paragons are worth the time if you can build em up properly. They can have all your minions critical more than half the time(!!!), have all attackers put everything on fire (!!!), and can even tank.
They are instrumental in grokking the evolution of pve as moving from putting so much effort into creating just one uber hero and instead understanding the relationships and synergy that can be created between all the members of a pve team to increase overall killing speed.
Heroes, especially Paragons, are leading an almost-emulation of the team build complexities that players face when putting together a gvg team build.
It's the next step in pve
don't get left behind
gogo

What I will say is that I think classes need to reach a critical mass before they become acceptable.
New classes just don't have the skill flexibility of core classes that have been around since Prophecies, so they feel limited and stifling in comparison.
I think that it's only when a respectable amount of skills are available to a class that they're worth playing, and due to the nature of GW, that won't happen until the chapter after the new class was introduced.
But that's just me.
I see hundreds of people out there playing paragons, so ANet got something right.
|
new classes are part of the content imo..no new classes, alot of people wont play it i think but idk. Anet just needs to balance classes from the beginning and not nerf crap along the way.

The paragon has been the most fun I've had with any char so far.
Coming up with pve builds is a lot of fun and finding the synergy between shouts/chants and your allies' skills is always rewarding. I love the versatility of the class. You can go melee, spear degen, armor buffer, battery, party wide healer, protection, etc.
I think you have to like experimenting with builds and finding good (pve) team builds to appreciate the paragon.

Paragons make every part of pve very easy, just take advantage of the synergies in your party and you will aggro the world and pick up their drops later. A paragon by itself isn't very powerful, but it adds to the power of the whole party.

My paragon is number 3 under my ranger and assassin. I love to play it because the backward spear throw isn't FULLY fixed so sometimes when I throw one it goes backwards then I see it zoom by like a fricken homing missle. It's funny as hell to watch. I never can get fraps to work fast enough....
anyway, the paragon takes time. and if you don't like the spear become a p/w and get a sword with some attacks. I have a req 9 Firey Dragon Sword that has near perfect stats. I use that when I need to tank or support but I also have a spear incase my spammable attacks->bleed->burn->Deep wound combo seems the best.
